Hand dryers are used extensively in shared public restrooms; they are used for a number of very good reasons:
- They are economical and save a great deal of money over the life of the machine
- They are hygienic; there is no need to touch handles or buttons
- There is no waste paper to pick up and dispose of
- They eliminate vandalism as there is nothing to clog toilets with
These are but a few of the reasons why a hand dryer is so popular. When buying a hand dryer there are a number of things that need to be taken into account, among them initial cost, speed, durability and hygiene.
Initial cost:
Hand dryers can cost as little as $150 all the way up to $1,000 and more. Obviously those at the low end will have fewer features but they most certainly do the job. As you approach the high end of the product range you have automatic units with infra red sensor control, high speed units, units with HEPA filters and more. It is well worth considering energy efficient models; they cost more but over their lifetime can save money due to reduced energy costs.
Speed:
For many people, speed is of the utmost importance. People want to get in to a public washroom and out again as quickly as possible. On the surface the difference between 10 seconds and 45 seconds might not seem like much but people are always anxious to get back to what they came into the place for.
Durability:
A hand dyer that is installed in a small office restroom will not have to withstand the same punishment that a unit takes when installed in an expressway fuel station. Always ask yourself about the need for the dryer to stand up to heavy use, if the answer is “yes” there are models to suit, the same is true if the answer is “no.”
Hand dryers have it all, they are good for the environment, good for the business owner and good for customers and staff.
